What is Physical Therapy?
"Physical therapists are licensed doctors who examine, diagnose, and treat movement dysfunction. Physical therapy is treatment by a physical therapist that helps people improve their movement, physical function, pain, and other chronic conditions, and recover from and prevent injury and chronic disease." - APTA
What do PTs do?
Physical therapists are movement experts with the goal of helping you move as safely and efficiently as possible to improve your ability to meet the demands of your daily life and sports across your lifespan. We assess strength, flexibility, joint mobility, nerve mobility, nerve sensitivity, muscle tone, and more, to figure out what limitations are holding you back, and decide what type of treatment will be most effective.
How do we approach rehab at GOAT House Physiotherapy?
Regardless of the location of injury, we perform full body assessments to ensure we are addressing the entire kinetic chain due to regional interdependence.
Our integrative approach to rehab takes into consideration the interdependence of biomechanical, neurological, and metabolic systems to improve pain, sleep, and physical function.
We develop hypotheses to explain the root causes of your pain, decide on the best tests to measure change, and re-test after each treatment to see if we are making progress or if we need to re-evaluate.
This allows us to help reduce your pain, restore your function, and minimize the risk of future injury as efficiently as possible, making sure we are not wasting your time with ineffective treatments.
This process will involve specific exercises tailored to your unique movement dysfunctions, weaknesses, and goals.
